In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Pembina County announced plans to illuminate county buildings green from November 4–11 as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a nationwide effort uniting counties to show support for military veterans.
The North Dakota Association of Counties (NDACo) supports this initiative to raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.
Pembina County residents, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to participate in Operation Green Light by changing one light bulb to green. By shining a green light, we let our veterans know they are seen, appreciated, and supported.
A green light may seem like a small gesture, but when thousands of counties and community partners participate each November, it becomes something much larger. Operation Green Light for Veterans sends a powerful message: We see our veterans, we remember their service, and we owe them more than a thank-you once a year. Their sacrifice didn't end at discharge. Our gratitude shouldn't either.
