Do I need to contact law enforcement if I hit a deer?

Updated 07/25/2020

Motorists who strike a deer or other undomesticated animals do not need to report the crash to law enforcement if the crash results in property damage only, regardless of the amount of damage to the vehicle. The driver may proceed to their destination if the vehicle is able to be driven. Law enforcement will respond to the crash scene to provide assistance if your vehicle becomes disabled. If someone is injured as a result of the crash, law enforcement must be contacted.
